The more time you spend on the Otherside the more Reality slips from your grasp. The more seasoned mages call it “The Happily Never After”. Enough time spent in the twisted, surreal fairy tale world full of sickly saturated colours and deep dark shadows and your mind loses the will and the ability to trace your way back to taxes, traffic jams and endless emails.
For those who are consumed by the Otherside, who never find the path back home again they are changed. They become more akin to the creatures found in fairytales becoming grotesque caricatures of their former selves. Their memories, fears and, experiences are warped and woven into the fabric of the Otherside creating new fables, new places, and new monsters.
Mostly children, artists and madmen who stumble to the Otherside are the only victims of The Happily Never After but occasionally a Keymaster will go missing. A Keymaster who knows much and has seen much more.
When this happens a rescue party must be sent to fetch them home to Reality before the Never After sets in, whether they want to come or not.
