It is 1932 in the western United States. Greenville is a small city on one of the major highways leading west out of the Dust Bowl and also at the intersection of two major railroad routes. A Hooverville, populated by hobos and Dust Bowl refugees, has sprung up outside town. Although much of the population is transitory, there are some long term residents. One of those is known as The King of the Hobos. The King runs the camp and is looked up to by the residents.
But the King is dead.
At dusk, Miss Lulu went to his shack to fetch him for dinner and found him brutally murdered. The residents of Greenville resent the fact that the camp exists and no help will come from town. In the morning, those fortunate enough to have a running vehicle will continue their journey. Trains will be moving through the nearby rail yard providing a way out for those brave or foolish enough to hop a freight. Vehicles will be traveling the highway and some will try thumbing a ride. If the King is to have justice, it will have to be tonight and will have to come from the residents of the camp.
They turn to you for help. “Who killed the King?”
This game is cloned from a previous game, One Night in Hooverville, that I ran to completion a few years ago. There is no pre-determined plot, and players have a great deal of freedom to shape the story and genre. This game will be different—possibly very different—from the original. The original game ran for 9 scenes. I expect this one to be a similar length.
