Countless dangers threaten Earth and her people: would-be world conquerors; powered armor-wearing madmen; invaders from outer space and other dimensions; ruthless assassins; criminal and terrorist organizations bent on world domination; mad scientists equipped with super-technology; evil sorcerers and their mystic minions; and costumed criminals of every possible description. Fortunately, an equally diverse array of superheroes stands ready to oppose these menaces at every turn and keep humanity safe.
You are one such hero, ready to put your life on the line to defend Freedom, Truth, and Justice. Sometimes you struggle to balance your personal life and responsibilities with the undeniably important duties of your costumed persona, but in the end all the effort’s worth it… usually.
Over the past two decades, the Earth has been through momentous changes that have shattered humanity’s preconceptions and beliefs. Extra-terrestrial life exists; magic is real; other dimensions, while unseen, are infinite in number. It has been the job of all superheroes, especially the Avengers, to maintain peace and defend the Earth from all threats.
But now, there is movement in the shadows. Unknown forces are at work attempting to bring about change according to their secret agenda. Their influence extends to every part of the globe, and their agents have infiltrated every major organization.
The Avengers have never faced an enemy this well-entrenched. How can they protect the Earth from its enemies when they don’t know who is an enemy and who is a friend?

When the Avengers (Captain Astra, Boost and Captain America I) respond to the threat of Grond on a rampage in midtown New York, they meet Lady d’Vert and Musketeer and with their help capture Grond. As recovery operations begin, agents of VIPER arrive to offer their assistance using unknown technology that seems miraculous. Having no cause to arrest them, Captain America allows them to stay. However, Captain Astra is convinced they are up to something. The Captain’s clash when Captain America is forced to defend the VIPER commander from Captain Astra. A heated exchange causes Captain Astra to fly off and the Avengers, along with their two new recruits, return to the Avengers mansion where Lady d’Vert and Musketeer are evaluated by Professor Charles Xavier. The novice heroes are accepted into the Avengers Academy and placed on temporary active duty. Boost travels to Millennium City to consult with Dr. Silverback to determine the origin of the technology VIPER utilized. Dr. Silverback concludes that they technology is temporal in nature and could only have been developed by Time Master I or the Empress Istvatha V’han.
Elsewhere, Captain Astra is contacted by the mysterious Agent 7 of UNTIL requesting to meet with him. Meeting on top of UNTIL HQ Agent 7, Natasha Romanov, informs him that the Empress Istvatha V’han has offered a bargain. If Captain Astra will convince the Avengers to not interfere with her plans for Earth’s dimension, she will return Astra to his home dimension. Astra, of course, refuses. In the next moment, Agent 7 is shot and collapses managing to tell Astra to call in the Avengers before apparently dying. Astra calls the Avengers and rockets off to find the assassin. Moments later, the Avengers arrive with Boost rushing to aid the fallen UNTIL agent. Romanov turns out to have been running an op and is not actually injured. Meanwhile, Astra finds the assassin Lazer and engages him in battle but is critically wounded. Lazer manages to escape, although his suit is damaged and it appears he crashes several blocks away. Boost stabilizes Astra enough to get him to the hospital. Concern arises when the team is not able to contact Jarvis and they rush back to the mansion. Boost, Lady d’Vert and Musketeer find Jarvis motionless on the floor and Boost radios Cap with his fears that Jarvis is dead!
At the hospital, Astra undergoes surgery but on his way to recovery a talking raccoon with a very large weapon arrives to kidnap Astra, who he refers to as “partner”.
