In a family owned noodle shop, five individuals are enjoying a nice, relatively quiet lunch. Little do they know that this quaint restaurant holds much more value than it seems, and that they will find themselves unwitting recruits in a secret war to save humanity’s past and future.
Narrator Notes
In case you have made it this far, I want to be upfront about the fact that this is intended to be a relatively short story/game (one chapter of approximately 3-5 scenes). The idea is to provide some light fun for new and veteran players. My intention is to provide an opportunity for equal parts roleplaying and action.
For the background, I am borrowing liberally from Shadowfist setting (Feng Shui RPG by Robin D. Laws). It’s a fun, cross-genre, high-action world that blends elements of magic, horror, sci-fi and gangsters with equal opportunity butt kicking.
For some of the mechanics, I am borrowing heavily from FATE Accelerated by Evil Hat Productions (some of the designers are contributors to Storium). The idea is to provide strengths and weaknesses that can be used for almost any challenge, obstacle or scene. They should influence or provide a ‘style’ for how you resolve a conflict without making you feel hedged in by limited options.
I prefer that players submit characters using the cards that I have provided (only one of each nature, but all other cards can be duplicated across characters), unless you feel you are familiar enough with both sources to craft your own.
My hope is to make new acquaintances, provide a fun story, and see this through to completion (with a beginning, middle and end).
