One year ago a strange object appeared in the sky. One year ago all the superheroes and villains disappeared off the face of the Earth, leaving fear and confusion in their wake. What did this mean for politics and war, science and theology, and the people left behind?
As time passed, people realized that supers were not always born, but were mostly made. Buy some drugs off the black market and you could be as strong as an ox. Torrent a pdf of some magical text off the internet and you were on the first step to being a sorcerer supreme. The heroes and villains were just those who got these powers first and kept them from the rest of humanity.
People started going into the lairs of the lost heroes and taking their stuff. They would fight old guards, avoid traps, and gather what loot they could to empower themselves or sell on the black market.
Some of these people were adrenaline junkies, doing this for fun. Others were capitalists, wanting to make a quick from their exploits. Some were idealists, trying to take on the mantle the old heroes left. Others had personal motives that brought them to the life.
Whatever their reasoning, these people had a reputation for doing what many people wouldn’t. These people risked life and limb to explore these long lairs. These people were called Base Raiders.
