Hundreds of years ago, the all-powerful Empire fell apart into a vicious and bloody civil war. What had once been a united kingdom collapsed into different factions and groups. It took twelve years, but it was eventually decided that the Empire would split into eight nations and govern themselves in any way they pleased. The nations were formed on the premise of a belief, a virtue, that all its citizens held dear.
The only time the nations’ leaders would have to come together was for the Council of the Blue Moon, held each year in Adala, the nation that values truth. The Council lasts for a week before the blue moon, and concludes with a celebration on the night of the blue moon, honoring the moon spirit, Selene.
But the Council of the Blue Moon has always been laced in trickery, backstabbing, and threats. What was supposed to be a peaceful, diplomatic event is really a battleground underneath the façade of smiles and niceties. The nations are unwilling to cooperate with each other, and those who want peace are few and far between.
Especially now, as threats of war become more common. Trading between nations has become wrought with tension, and another war is seeming to inch closer with every passing day. At the previous Council, a Halu prince was murdered. The stakes are higher than ever at this Council, because it may be the last chance to save the nations from another war.
