Everyone always talks about the anarchist punks of the hacking world, but no one ever speaks of its gentlemen thieves. There are those among the make refined that hate the corporate-run government as much as the common Mohawk sporting ruffian does, perhaps even more. Of course, to afford to be refined, you usually need a job with one of the corporations, but one always finds it easier to infiltrate a world controlling government while wearing a nice suit and a neat haircut. While using one’s connections to the underground can help, what’s much more useful is actually knowing the men in charge, having shared drinks with them and even visited their workplaces as part of your business dealings. As more and more of the lowbrow punks get caught in the act, expendable and then replaceable, the type of data thief that knows to make himself free of suspicion prospers. The kind that knows that corporations are run by rich blood, and rich blood never looks at its fellow with too much scrutiny, as the fellow knows to make himself seem too dense to attempt anything of the caliber of the crime the rich blood is faced with. But I’m getting too caught up in my metaphor, aren’t I? Without using flowery language about blood and whatever fellows it may have, I’ll make myself clear. The world is run through the cyberspace, and one needs a bit of class to truly thrive.
