Note: This game is a sequel/spinoff of Meddlesome, an excellent game narrated by the fabulous Kayne. If you’re reading this and haven’t read through that game, I would strongly suggest that you read that one first, as there are elements in this story that you probably won’t understand without having read that one, and this story will definitely contain some spoilers for that one.
It’s September 1985. A couple of months ago, five teenagers working at a summer camp in Mystery, Pennsylvania, were drawn into a vast conspiracy organized by a madwoman who was determined to use the power of time travel to rewrite history. They managed to stop her and brought an end to her plans… but in the process, their own lives were changed forever.
In the original version of history, Derek Castle lost his father, Hank, in 1972, when he supposedly disappeared while on a business trip. Willow May, meanwhile, lost both of her parents, Marigold and Jasper, in a house fire in 1975.
In reality, however, all three lost parents were killed by Eren Charrington, the madwoman responsible for the whole time-travel scheme. She had reshaped the five teens’ lives in various different ways, setting them all on the course that would best serve her purposes… but when Derek, Willow, and their friends stopped her and prevented her plans from ever beginning, everything changed.
A new timeline was formed, the old one wiped away along with all of Charrington’s manipulations. In this new version of history, Derek’s father survived his business trip and returned home, living a happy life with Derek and his mother Mary. Willow, however, wasn’t so lucky: as it turned out, both of her parents had been destined to die early regardless of Charrington’s actions, and they were both killed in a car accident in 1976, just one year after the fire that the teens had managed to prevent. However, there was a silver lining: Willow’s parents might still be gone, but Derek was able to persuade his now-reunited parents to adopt her instead, bringing her into their home and giving her a family and a place to belong.
Now, Derek and Willow have returned to Derek’s hometown, New York City, ready and excited to see what the future of this new timeline may bring for them both. But life isn’t necessarily going to be easy for them now: they will still have challenges to face, and as they may soon find out, making it through high school may turn out to be just as challenging as saving the world.
But this time, they’ve got each other. And together, there’s nothing they can’t do.
