Twenty years ago a group of neophyte wizards got their hands on a grimoire full of some seriously dark magic. Substituting innocent blood for talent, they ripped a hole between this world and a darker one. The members of the supernatural community- shapeshifters, wizards, lycanthropes, vampires, half-fae, and others- came forward from their underground existence to keep the creatures spilling out of the Breach. Their united efforts kept the world from falling apart while more experienced wizards closed the Breach.
That was April. Now it’s May, and the humans know what’s out there.
Most of the world only had to deal with the occasional monster. The Breach opened on Belle Isle State Park in Michigan, though, and so Detroit was even more of a battleground than it used to be. The Blue Council- consisting of wizards, mages, and the like- kept the Breach narrow and contained to the park while more combat-worthy groups (lycanthropes, weres, vampires) killed most of the creatures who managed to get out of the Breach.
The war’s over. Now you have to live in the world that’s left. While politicians of all kinds argue the legalities on the world stage, you’re just trying to get by. Maybe you’re back at work on the police force, fighting to keep your job when your captain is suspicious of your motives. You could be newly homeless after your husband tried to kill you (because JESUS HATES FREAKS). Whatever your place in post-Breach Detroit, you have to get your feet under you fast.
Not everything went home when the Breach closed.
