A number of strangers and acquaintances find themselves in a tavern one evening for a contest. Who can tell the most fascinating tale of one of their many exploits?
All of these tales are guaranteed to be accurate, for it would be beneath even the lowliest beggar to slander such magnificence with the taint of untruth.
This game is based on the storytelling game The Extraordinary Adventures of Baron Munchausen. It will be extremely light on narration, aside from the addition of challenges.
Players 5 to 10 players is what I am looking to accept depending on the amount of interest shown during player application.
Characters Each player will be a human being in Victorian times, and all will tell one story (Split into 5-6 parts) before the game ends. Your background should tell a bit about your character, and give other players some idea about what famous exploits you may have accomplished during your lifetime.
Cards Feel free to use my examples, or add your own natures, strengths, weaknesses, subplots with the following guidelines. Strength cards are used to agree with the storyteller’s tale, but you may add to, or embellish their story. Weakness cards call the storyteller’s tale to the carpet, either by claiming outright falsehood, or suggesting that perhaps the teller was mistaken in their assumptions. Subplots are neutral, for example, asking for clarification or elaboration from the storyteller.
Players will be given a small number of Coin assets that may be given to a player as a bribe in order to ignore a challenge to their story.
Tone Stories should be over the top, regardless of the occurrences. Comedic telling is encouraged. Don’t take a player’s challenges as an insult to your writing ability. First person past tense for when you tell your tale.
