It is 1815 and the beginning of the Season in the English village of Farthington. Hearts flutter, gowns are ordered or turned and re-trimmed, matchmaking mamas assess the local gentry for eligible bachelors and bemoan the scarcity of titled suitors for their daughters.
Are you the local squire or the village vicar? Are you a hopeful miss in a family of daughters or an eligible bachelor trying to outrun the parson’s noose? Do you live in the manor house or a quaint cottage in the village? Are you one of the handsome officers in the regiment conveniently stationed at the edge of town? Are you seeking romance, fortune, excitement, or just to get by on your meager income? No matter, all are part of the vital society of Farthington.
While the Ton of London may not venture this far south, Farthington has its own Assembly Rooms and the Season begins with a ball every bit as anticipated as any in Bath or London. Tie your cravat, pick up your reticule and call the carriage - Farthington awaits!
