Only last month, Cole King sold the company he started just five years ago for twenty million pounds. He immediately bought this magnificent house, behind me, in the countryside near Oxford and, understandably, his next act was to plan a party to celebrate his windfall.
Being a keen amateur musician and not, friends have revealed, particularly fond of popular music, King decided to hold a classical musical soirée, and invited only friends and neighbours who shared his passion and could match his ability.
It should have been a scene from a Jane Austen novel. Instead, this story appears more likely to have been written by Agatha Christie. After just one night, King is dead, stabbed through the heart and, just as the author would have had it, the police appear baffled as to the identity of the murderer.
