Welcome to the Spirito, the fastest freighter this side of Mars. The ship was making a long-haul trip out to the very edge of human civilization, the moon of Ganymede, when all communication with the planet vanished. Repeated transmissions were met with silence, and a quick relay to a military outpost in the main belt confirmed thr total loss of communication.
A support team was deployed, but it would take them another few weeks to close the distance, and the Spirito was only a few days out. It was up to the captain and crew to decide the next action: stay away and wait for the military, or start the investigation and save anyone they could.
Story:
This is intended to be a gritty, near-future sci-fi set in our solar system. Imagine The Expanse series, or something like Dead Space for inspiration (don’t feel like you have to know that IP in order to participate though). It will probably end up being a little dark, so use of bathos is also encouraged when things get grim.
We’ll start out on the Spirito, en route to Ganymede. It was the closest ship when the blackout occurred, only a few days out and already decelerating. Military aide will be arriving within the week.
Characters:
I weeded through the default characters so that there was something to start from. Creating your own character cards is highly encouraged, but if you need some inspiration, use what I’ve edited as a starting point. Add art as appropriate.
This is near-future, so no aliens or robots/AI. Assume we haven’t come that far yet in technology. However, I do appreciate a varied and diverse cast.
Characters that I would like to see filled are:
- Captain
- Engineer
- One more support character (scientists, diplomats, politicians, wealthy mogul, priest, whatever)
Structure:
You will all be trying to figure out what happened to the colony on Ganymede, but you also have your own motivations and subplots to deal with. Feel free to make those subplots whatever you want.
Nitpicks:
I won’t go crazy, but in general I would like to see posts from your character’s point of view, third person, past-tense.
