The year is 2045, in the not-so-distant future. As the world screams into it’s Third Industrial Revolution, it leaves behind a trail of devastation. The resource wars have come and gone, with nuclear scars in the middle east, North Korea and South America. The European Union has become a single political entity, encompassing every state from Portugal to Poland. Russia reabsorbed the Ukraine and it’s other western neighbors, then fractured, becoming the Republic of Northern Socialist States. Corruption still rules Central America. And the African countries have become united under a dictator, taking on the name of the United African Union, and ruled under an iron fist.
Amidst the chaos of an evolving society, and from the ashes of a once-great empire, a new city was formed on the east coast of the U.S. Your city. Hades City.
An independent entity, it’s purpose was as a haven, for refugees of all kinds, from those fleeing dictators and drug lords to those running from a more… economic persecution. Unfortunately, some things are inescapable; as these extremes washed onto Hades City’s shores, their crime, poverty and injustice followed.
To an outsider, the city’s gleaming skyscrapers and new-paved streets promise a better life for those able to make the trip. But to those trapped in it’s embrace, the name proves all too apt - for as Hades was the god of wealth, he was also the god of greed - and of death.

This is a heist roleplay in a colorful, dystopian city. It is inspired by films such as those in the Mission Impossible, Oceans, Matrix, and the Need for Speed franchises, as well as the worlds of John Wick and Looper. In other media, a good example of the type of world I’ve tried to build would be that of the game Mirror’s Edge, with elements of Cyberpunk 2077. If you’ve ever enjoyed playing or watching any of these franchises, this roleplay is for you.
An emphasis was placed on setting during creation, and I’d like to exploit this by introducing lots of moving parts as we go along. Not all parts of the story will be explored, and minor characters will come and go.
I’m looking for 4 characters in total, and will be functioning solely as a GM. I have roles in mind, but leave individual traits to your imagination. The simple setup: you live in this world, and are staying in Hades. Whether down on your luck, exceptionally skilled or paying off an old debt, you’ve been hired for the heist of a lifetime - the type that, if you succeed, can make all your old problems disappear.
