The setting is an alternate current Earth where for an (unknown?) reason folks have begun developing superpowers. The government has instituted mandatory tagging and personality and psych profiles on all “Supers”. Those that fail to submit or can’t pass the exam standards are hunted and locked away in ultra security prison facilities. The press doesn’t report this an awful lot.
Those supers that are deemed “benign” are drafted into government service. Most wind up doing extremely well paying but menial jobs that their powers allow them to excel at - one gentleman with massive strength and extreme body altering and stretching abilities works as a crane, extending 4 protuberances from his ‘base’ and grabbing onto the object in question and stretching to lift it great heights. When he is done he snaps back in place and from the top of whatever structure he was lifting turns into a giant sail and floats home…I think they call him the Tower.
The characters all work for the government in some menial, thankless capacity as part of the Superpowered Municipal Upkeep Team - for now - and live at S.M.U.T. HQ. All have voluntarily registered and agreed to testing, and have passed and are deemed “benign”. It might be possible that certain powers could be used to alter or mask those test results however.
I’ll create basic nature cards, each different type representing a category of superpowers. Players should select a nature then utilize the Wikipeadia entry on Superpowers [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_superhuman_features_and_abilities_in_fiction] to select their particular ability from within that class. Remember guys like Superman and his ilk were assigned to much better units already. Think of the characters as more of the Superhero misfits, either because their powers are weird or limited and/or because they have serious flaws or drawbacks.
For your strengths and weaknesses follow the format of the example cards. Select your specific power from the Wiki, for your weakness explain your power limitations or drawbacks that limit your ability to get promoted out of the dog-catcher squad…
I’ll be limiting participation to 4-5 characters to start. Game is tagged NSFW because I don’t want to have to worry about letting a fuck slip. You shouldn’t either…
Word limits are set to off by default. I figure folks will be judicious and not dominate scenes too much, so I don’t feel the artificial limits are necessary. If I see something getting uneven I’ll mention it in the commentary.
My 1st time running a game on Storium, but hopefully it will be a fun guinea pig experience for everyone.
