This is not the kind of world you see in the comics, in comics there where heroes and villains rising out of seemingly everyday life just because of powers. In our world when mankind started showing signs of superpowers nothing really changed, okay every so often a madman tried to be like the comics, dressing up in costumes either trying to be a hero or villain, but ultimately people like that were arrested quickly by powered law enforcement. In 2039, just ten years ago the United Nations decided it was time to create a Security Taskforce of superhumans to deal these crazies and stand up as symbols. Originally the idea was to recruit one hundred superhumans, then an idea came that each nation should choose a hero, but ultimately it was considered too much and reduced the taskforce to five heroes chosen by the U.N. Security Council. The group would simply be called Squadron Five with the five heroes being:
Miracle Man- Mutant born Jason Wells with the ability to absorb and retain the powers of every mutant he ever encountered. He was the first chosen, standing for truth and justice. Voted in by the Americans.
Madame Mystic- A powerful sorceress Andrea Cromwell who fought the forces of evil using powerful spells. Voted in by the United Kingdom.
Doctor Fallout- A former mad scientist Vladimir Chazov gained powers after a freak accident turned him into a living nuclear reactor. Voted in by Russia.
Bastion- German Engineer Arno Strenzel that created a massive suit of Crusader Armor to fight terrorism. Voted in by France.
And the Crimson Commando- Chinese Super Soldier Chang Long created by the Democratic People’s Republic of China originally for combating superhumans. Enhanced by cybernetics, genetic re-sequencing, and the best weapons in the world, the Commando was thought to be the deadliest man alive. Voted in by China.
For years the Squadron Five kept the world safe dealing with the so called want to be heroes and those who truly thought themselves to be villains. They even faced a few extraterrestrial and extradimensional threats, but when the day came, when they came.
They called themselves the Sovereignty, they arrived over our planet, just sat there for days idle, no communication other than one, and then they attacked in full force. Alien troops attacked every major city, the first battles started over Manhattan, Paris, Beijing, Johannesburg, Sydney. In the aftermath of the first few battles the Squadron Five were sent to destroy the Sovereignty mother-ship, they succeeded, but it cost them their lives, still the invasion continued as reinforcements arrived. Still fighting back the Earth Military Coalition (EMC) formed as humanity’s last best hope and with the war, mankind has been enlisted for the fight of their lives, for their future of the human race.
Since the invasion evolution has brought many mutants to light, freak accidents have increased causing several to gain powers. The remaining military has taken in armors from corporations and have continued developing supersoldiers. With the invasion many mystic sites were disturbed and the magical community has at least partially awoken. As for the most recent reports, not all aliens are enemies, we’ve found a few defectors and even a few aliens fighting other aliens seen on our planet.
Character Creation: Characters should have a feel that feels something like Avengers/ X-Men, no Superman style characters. Also no Lovecraft style characters. That is all, make the characters unique and entertaining so long as you keep in mind the backstory into the invasion as were about six months into the invasion.
