The world of Myrra needs heroes. The Kingdom of Alistha hangs on the brink of war with the Verdant States, the art of magic has fallen into disarray, and mysterious storms begin to gather in the massive yawning ocean known as the World’s Maw. Evil gathers anew to strike down all that the world has created and the world of Myrra has a host of secrets waiting to be revealed to those brave enough to find them.
Into this fray steps a young girl from Orenton, a beach town in the Kingdom, with a surprising power - one who, with her companions, is the only chance Myrra has to avoid its dark fate.
Heroes of Myrra is an adventure game set in an original world, with a lengthy heroic quest based heavily on the Final Fantasy series of games. The game will begin with one character initially, and expand as the party grows over the course of the main plot.
The game is set third person present tense, and will feature both battle sequences utilizing light twists on the Storium engine and character-driven goals, scenes, and conflicts. I expect to get through approximately a scene every week or two as long as players are willing to be open and communicate when things come up!
The setting is primarily fantastic; guns are rare pieces of ancient technology, and few if any still know the art of maintaining or using them. Magic is limited to the use of Micra, small crystals that store leyline energy for those skilled enough to use them, and some countries, like the Verdant States, show more technological advancement than others.
There’s more than a few parts to the world, but much like in a video game, much of this will be revealed as the game progresses in exposition and speaking to other characters - and there’s quite a bit of room for players to help in annotating the lore, as well!
If you’re joining in, choose a Nature card that reflects your character’s occupation or standing in the world, a Strength card that can reflect both their personality or their combat style, and a Weakness and Subplot of your choice; PM @friedduck if you’d like to discuss more specific subplots.
