They left the law behind when they left Earth. That was hundreds of years ago and justice has taken a long time to catch up. The Corps are in charge now and they make the rules, at least in the cities. Things are looser still on the outskirts and in the asteroid belts, but there are a few rules that even the most lawless folk follow.
- You’re not paid to ask questions, so keep your mouth shut.
- The biggest gun usually wins.
- Never cross a Corp.
It’s not surprising that these adages have been unofficially adopted by the Lancers - a motley group of mercenaries who sell their skills to the highest bidders. Every city has a Lancer bar where these soldiers of fortune spend their blood money on drink and flesh. Got a contract you want to see delivered? Post it there and watch them fight for it. Just be careful you don’t get caught up in the middle.
