There was a sign in the café window, down near the bottom, as though whoever put it there didn’t really want it to get much attention:
Help Wanted
Looking for interested “persons” to
work at our busy downtown location.
No experience required, will train.
Accepting applications from all walks
of life (or unlife! We don’t discriminate
at Café Pandemonia). Please apply in
person, ask for Bill.
The ghost behind the counter levelled a glare on you that was both bored and contemptuous when you brought your resume in before he drifted through a wall to see if Bill had time to see you.
You were not prepared to be greeted by the lumbering goat demon that emerged from around the corner. The human clientele doesn’t seem to react to his appearance… the non-magical only ever see what they expect to see. As Bill smiled at you and reached for your application, you longed to be one of those unmagical sheeple.
But a job’s a job, and beggars can’t be choosers, right?
