The world came to an end, but zombies never happened. The end was brought about by a collapsing economy, unstable countries with weapons of mass destruction, and the decline of antibiotic function. A perfect storm of events culminated in a setback of humanity on a global scale.
Governments struggle to keep order in a world where a simple infection can mean certain death, and squabbles over land and uncontaminated resources breed insurrection. Communities alienate anyone with an infection, hearkening back to the days of lepers.
This is the tale of one such community, Leftwich, and its ongoing conflict for the land surrounding Mile Marker 19. Due to its geography the land was well sheltered from the fallout of war, and is believed to contain soil inhospitable to harmful infectious diseases which may lead to an end of their grip on humanity’s health.
