They say that the world was normal once, about seventy years ago. To your mind that might as well have been when dinosaurs roamed the earth. This is the world that you grew up in. This is your normal.
In 1947 a meteor struck the moon. For one night the sky was full of shooting stars and for a while people that that that was the end of it. The moon stayed in orbit, the tides stayed more or less the same. The biggest change was the giant crater on the moon. Nothing to worry about.
It was three years later that the world changed and the so-called normal was lost. It was three years later that the first super powers manifested. There was wonder, there was awe and there was fear. And then there was research.
In the decades since moon dust rained upon the Earth, the cause of these superpowers has been uncovered. A radioactive isotope never before seen on Earth. The fragments of the moon were gathered, quarantined and refined.
The Tears of the Moon were the result of this research, a serum that gave people powers.
It wasn’t until much later that the world realised it was too little, too late. Not all of the shards of the moon were gathered and others contaminated the ground water before collection.
Even seventy years later there’s no way to tell who will develop powers. You were one of the lucky few and your city needs help.
There’s a new gang in town and it’s not just weed and ecstasy they’re pedaling, it’s not even methamphetamine. It’s Moondust.
Moondust might give you powers or it might kill you. Moondust might have no effect at all or might might leave you horribly deformed. Moondust could transform you forever or it could wear off without warning.
At first it was just the gang’s thugs that used it but now word is spreading that it’s about to hit the streets.
