This is where vanished things go.
The lost, the unwanted, the forgotten. All things end up in the void eventually, even people.
Life in the void is strange. There’s no light, no land, no air, no anything. The void is just that, a vast emptiness which contains the detritus of the ages.
Over the years the rubble of a thousand civilisations has been pushed together to form an island, a beacon of life in the void. People can be found there. What they do can’t rightly be called living since they don’t eat or age or die but they exist, they have lives, purpose.
Sometimes new things appear. Sometimes old things vanish and there’s a mad scramble to fill the hole it left. Sometimes a new person appears though they’re seldom lucky enough to appear on the island.
The luckier ones find their way to the island (or are found) with their sanity more or less intact. The unlucky ones go mad and for them eternity in the void awaits.
Whatever else it may be the island in the void is your home now and you eke out a living however you can.
