The 29th Century, the galaxies have faced turmoil over the last decade. More than a decade ago a splinter group called the Independents tried to succeed from the Consortium. The Consortium being the power that it was decided not to let them go thus war broke out. The war lasted a better part of a decade with billions of casualties across the Tri-galactic Community. The Consortium won the war and reunited Andromeda, the Milky Way, and Triangulum.
The dominant power of the Consortium is humanity and the near humans making up to 27% of the population, but still greater than any other member race of the Consortium. Aliens are treated depending on whether the race joined willingly. Slavery exists in the Consortium, but only for resistant species. Piracy and other illegal activities are rampant within the Consortium, but are little threat to the military. There are alien powers and independent nations within and without Consortium space, but in the shadow of the Consortium are nothing.
You are the noble crew of the Eridani Voyager, a medium size Freetrader Transport under the command of Captain Jarreth Zahn. Whoever you are you have a history with him. Maybe he was you’re friend or an old buddy from the war. Maybe he saved you from the vacuum of space or the Consortium’s prisons. Maybe he just found you useful and brought you aboard. Under his command you are somewhat honorable vagabonds on the edge of civilization, doing what must be done to keep flyin.
