Physwick College, also known as Physwick House or Physwick Hostel, is one of the oldest women’s colleges in Cambridge. Though almost no one knows about its existence.
Physwick Hostel was founded in 1393 by William Fiswick and official history says that in 1546 Physwick and St Margaret’s were merged into the new Trinity College by Henry VIII. However, Physwick College still exists, hidden from the eyes of the world, and only visible by those who have the aptitude.
For Physwick College is one of two Cambridge’s metaphysical colleges. The other college is Michaelhouse, which is Physwick’s all male equivalent. These colleges are the places where magic is taught. (There are also two metaphysical colleges in Oxford: Bede College is the men’s college and Pentecost College is the women’s college. These are the only formal centers for magical education in England, although there are also many other magical schools throughout the world. There are even more on the British Isles, though Oxbridge students of Magic tend to look down upon the Magical University of Edinburgh and the Druid’s Circle of Cardiff.)
This game is a modification of “The University” game from the Kickstarter Library. I have been editing and changing some of the cards. This story is set at an all women’s magical college in Cambridge, England. All the characters are adults, but the tone won’t overtly adult. So while the protagonists are of the age of Lev Grossman’s protagonists, I am going for more of J.K. Rowling/Terry Pratchett vibe here.
All player characters are first year students, freshly arriving for their first year of studies. Some know about magic, to others it is all new.
