There are many strange phenomena in this world, and not all can be explained away by logic or reason. Aurora Borealis or Australis, for example, are natural phenomena that can be observed only at the Poles. This is so well known, one could go as far as saying it’s common knowledge.
And yet despite this fact, when mysterious lights filled the sky -all around the world- so called scientific experts tried to pass it off as nothing more than an aurora. Because sometimes it’s easier to say something blatantly wrong, than admit you have no idea what’s going on.
In the days that follow the strange lights, reports come in of even stranger events. People, all around the world started dying, of apparently nothing. No one can determine a cause of death; it’s almost as if they have just dropped dead for no reason. But even stranger are the reports of those who were found with… “physiological differences” the reports say. But rumors fly of a winged woman in Dublin; a man found with scales instead of skin in Los Angeles.
In a small city such as yours though, the problems of the world probably seem pretty far away. Those rumors are just that: rumors. I mean it’s not as if anyone here is developing strange abilities, right? That would be crazy.
