Narrator’s Note: (from the last Narrator)
As the final Narrator for the game, I wanted to give a shout-out to those who came before me, and to give the reader a little background…
- This game originally was a spinoff variant of Tacronicus’ “Romans in Space” line of stories. DominionChris, the game’s originator, made a couple of very interesting twists and variations to the original concept and came up with a very interesting alternate world. The Roman Imperial Warship Stella Nova was the same, as was her captain, Johannes Lucas Picardius. From that point, however, the game was unique.
- In this story, Stella Nova faces the most difficult battle of her storied career. Her ultimate survival is very much in doubt…
Rome never fell, in the second century A.D. Rome decided to expand rather than stay stagnant. Into the 21st century alongside Rome the empires of the Mayan Conglomerate, the Incan Empire, the Mongol World Empire, the Shogunate of Japan, along with a few other minor states as seen in Superpowers Alternate History Wiki. Ultimately after Rome became the only nation able to militarize space the other nations knew allying with Rome was the only way. In 2071 the nations of earth rallied around Rome after they built their first Quam Celerius Lucem (QCL) Drive. Sending out scout ships to survey space most disappeared, but Rome accounted for that and built a mighty stellar fleet. In 2103 mankind colonized outside the solar system with a mighty fleet of eighty warships guiding colonists to the new world Proxima Centauri. Over the years the Rome has encountered many alien species collectively called Barbarians and gone on seven campaigns against various Barbarian Hordes to liberate planets for the Glory of Rome.
Now the year is 2219, Rome controls a few dozen systems across a vast frontier, now a new battle fleet has been launched with an advanced destroyer leading the way, the new ship is the Stella Nova, a dreadnought and first of the Trireme class of starship, its mission, to explore strange new worlds, to make first contact with new species, and if necessary to soften them up to invasion if they refuse to cooperate with the Empire.
(This story will draw heavily from ideas of the Galactic Empire from Star Wars and the Mirror Universe from Star Trek)
