It’s the summer of 1962 and the hottest new act on the music scene is Sheila and the Star Clusters. This girl group’s numerous hit singles are beloved throughout the world and can be heard everywhere there is a radio.
It seems the band’s fame has also managed to penetrate the cold reaches of space; on Mars, Sheila and the Star Clusters are arguably even more popular than they are on Earth. In fact, they are the favorite band of the Martian prince and princess, who demand the group perform for their sweet sixteen birthday party. But when their mother, the Martian queen, tries to make arrangements, there is a terrible misunderstanding. Now, the Martians are pissed off and offended, and turn their sights to more insidious actions: kidnapping United States President John F. Kennedy.
The only way the Martians will return the president is if Sheila and the Star Clusters perform…but there is now more to the arrangement than a simple show. What is a girl band to do? Can they be the harmonizing heroines the US expects? Or will the stress and tension of trying to save America lead the singing sensations to a (gulp) band break-up?
