“Good evening and welcome to the War Room. As you know, I am Nathaniel Ganmer, the Headmaster and primary recruiter for Meridian Academy. The other classes you have during normal school hours, with the other students, are, of course, of essential importance, but this is where you will be able to make a difference for the freedom of humanity.
“The world at large is not aware of it, but there is a war going on. Practically every account of supernatural phenomena, including childhood fairytales, myths and UFO sighting, are loosely based on the secret battles fought between the two factions throughout history.”
The students in the room shuffled uncertainly.
The headmaster continued, “Have you heard the story of David slaying the giant Goliath?” He paused, waiting for some of the students to nod, “How about Odysseus and the Cyclops? The Bigfoot, the Abominable Snowman, Trolls, have you heard of all of these?”
When the students nodded again, he continued, “All stories making reference to one of the most prevalent, and now the easiest to defeat, creatures of Chaos. David and Odysseus were both members of what you will come to know as the Guardians. As the world at large is unaware of this war, we have only allowed highly edited accounts of those battles to be published widely.
You have all been chosen for your unique ability to contribute to the fight against the forces of Darkness and Chaos, in the name of the Light. Will you take up the mantle of a Guardian?
