The megalopolis city of the future. Everyone is transhuman in one way or another. There are nature reserves to preserve cultures but even those are transhumans that have rejected or limited their biological or technical adaptions to a set period of advancement out of tradition.
This is a crazy surreal world with a faceless dictatorship by proxy of a one party system. News media is tightly filtered/controlled propaganda of the dictatorship.
Amongst this there are some that fight and struggle in their own insane way against any sign of conformity they are the bizarre in an already weird world.
The player characters will be a loosely held together group that have been invited/forced to work together mainly as proactive involved investigative journalists by a non player character their new boss who will pay them (but not much).
The player characters should have a little bit of back story and previous/current occupation(s) if any.
They will seek out and be sought out by strange events, organisations and groups. Sometimes investigating, reporting, battling (with weaponry, words or outlandishly methods), putting themselves and others in danger, possibly saving something of humanity or fighting for justice and right or just fighting against whatever gets on their nerves on that particular day or just spending their cash on whatever their addiction or pleasure is.
Make your characters as odd and surreal as you like they have high tech, nano tech, biological/genetic modifications and surgery, they could have a tail and look like a cat, have cyberpunk tech plugged all over their body, be a digitally uploaded being in a robotic avatar host body or even a dual couple married together into one host body.
