The setting is a Victorian era steampunk universe where industrial espionage is being introduced into the dawn of the industrial age. Steam Spy includes all of the action and twists of your favorite spy movie, but surrounded by the clunky, clockwork machinations of steam powered gadgets, gizmos and technology.
Players take the role of agents from one of 5 rival intelligence factions working for one of the world’s leading corporations. Tense alliances and subtle adversity all take place under the shadow of a greater threat that can only be faced together. When creating a character, players will need to chose which of the alliances they work for.
M5 is the Western European agency that works to collect and protect all of the world’s information for the massive Encyclopedia Englandia Corporation.
The Shadow Bureau is the Eastern European agency that faces the mysteries of the unknown, while helping to protect the lines of transportation developed by the Transylvanian Transportation Company.
The Dragon Sect is the far eastern agency that takes advantage of the marvelous robotic technology developed by its parent company Orisaku Artificials.
The Federal Agency is an organization of straight shooting provocateurs who use the advanced weaponry of North America’s Renningson and Sons Firearms.
Or you can join the Unified Alliance and use the resources of Navidad Pharmaceuticals and the southern continent to assist and cooperate with your fellow agents and unite them into an unstoppable team.
Steam Spy is based on the RPG/Card Game Steam Spy which can be found at steamspygame.com. Knowledge of the game is welcome, but not necessary. Character selection will start conservatively, but has the potential to grow as we all get used to the world. So this is your opportunity to be one of the first to help create and expand this original game universe.
