Magic’s been with us for centuries, though in the old world – full of superstition and deistic ignorance – mankind was too afraid to dare and understand it. And with the years, this alien force has been rendered mundane, mere part of the natural phenomenons of the world, thought to follow the whims of god or gods. The burning halos in the sky, the luminescence unexplained in the waters, the very tickle on our skin in the darkest night, it all became normal, and soon to speculate that it might be anything else than the a plan of the creator not to be understood by us devout servants was punishable by torture and death under the trails of witchcraft.
But those savage times are long gone. Now, on the first steps of a new millennium of an ever-growing secular world, science has started to decode the secrets of nature. With it, we slowly begin to understand the nature of the magic we accepted as god-given for so long. And we’ve started to use it for good…
…and for evil.
In this strange world (not unlike ours), instead of something supernatural, magic is a barely understood force of nature. It didn’t create powerful spells and mystical creatures, but is nonetheless a barely understand form of energy. Many harvest it, form it, and use it for their own profit, even though no one fully understands what it actually is.
