The Eight, as they are known, were until very recently believed the only divine beings of the world. Though disturbing rumours have begun emerging from all corners of the planet.
In recent years the North has been distancing itself further from the central government of Liaryn, the City of Light. After the near fall of Ghart, the final bastion before the Giant Wastes, and the late arrival of troops from Liaryn, the northern chieftains severed most connections and secluded themselves to their customs, refusing to cooperate with the rest of the world.
From the East, news of new gods have trickled in, seeding new cults all over the Central Nations, and even reaching so far as to make some of the Elves question their teachings. Scripture tells, that no mortal could ever become a divine. Now Scripture is being questioned, and matters are not made simpler by the rumours that the New Gods are ascended dragons.
Most disturbing of news, was the recent publication of a notebook found on a dying messenger on the steps of the Cathedral of Kyank, in Liaryn. The notebook tells of the great wall to the South, and ends abruptly with a horrifying statement. “The gate is open. They have heard. Gods help us, what have I done.”
With so much tension in the world, how long until it all breaks? The world is in need of extraordinary people, more than ever. But will their motives be of good, or evil?
