One late Spring day, Windy Glade was packed. Animals of all types sat side by side in quiet anticipation. The woodland council was about to convene and a decision would be made about what to do about ‘the problem’.
The councillors filed in and took their places within the tree stump circle at the front of the glade. Not a sound was heard apart from the gentle babbling of Dark Brook which snaked lazily alongside the bright glade. Even the wind had abated so that the words of the councillors would be better heard.
Old Father Dewdrop, the elected representative of the Hare faction thumped his foot upon the ground. “I declare the woodland council to be open. The council will now hear the petitioners..”
This is going to be an animal based adventure in the style of Kenneth Grahame or Colin Dann written for an adult audience. I have no idea how this will turn out but let’s have some fun finding out.
In terms of tone, please try to keep the story fairly light. I’m aiming for an odd mix of children’s story charm and anthromorphic whimsy, along with some fairly realistic natural world problems that the woodland critters encounter (hence sub-plots like ‘find a mate’).
I’m looking for four players. And I’m also keen to make sure the characters and back stories mesh together. So please don’t be offended if I decline your character as it won’t be to do with the quality of the submission.
I want to state at the outset that if you win control of the story, you are able to narrate for any characters (NPC or player characters) within the confines of the strong or weak outcome text. If the challenge finishes with an uncertain outcome then I would like you to take control of the story but to stop short of narrating the outcome of the challenge, post your move, and then negotiate an outcome with me via the commentary which I you can then post in a second move.
If you are going to do something significant that involves another player’s character then please confer via the commentary before hand.
Please feel free to make custom natures, strengths, weaknesses and sub-plots. Obviously try to keep to theme but I’m all up for this being a collaborative story.
