The year is 2263 C.E. Humankind’s first interplanetary war is over. Victory was won over the alien aggressor, but at a cost. The same colossal blast that pushed the enemy back also sealed the way to Earth behind an impenetrable barrier. Those who survived the fighting found themselves unable to go home, locked inside a vast section of the universe now called Enclosed Space.
The Slinger-class ships are experimental transport and light warship prototypes which, if rumors are true, have the ability to “sling” to any point in space. This makes them the only ships that could possibly reach Earth. They have never been in service, and their creator is currently missing, along with all plans for their construction. Only two prototypes are known to exist. One, the Blackjack, is rumored to be in the hands of a group of ex-soldiers after a daring heist on the Raja Pleasure Ship. Their current location is unknown.
Blackjack’s sister ship, the Baccarat, is in the possession of Jack Strager, owner of the Starpath Casino satellite in orbit around Monacora. The Baccarat sits in the casino’s high-security stardock, providing a unique backdrop for Strager’s gambling operation. A ship like that deserves to be out cruising the starlanes, not gathering dust like some derelict hulk.
Note: I’ve created a few natures and such as examples, but feel free to create (or rewrite to suit) anything you think may fit into a swingin’ Rat Pack-heist movie-space opera.

What I am, paradoxically, is a rabid fan of a show that does not exist, and if I can’t have any actual episodes of it, by gum, I’m gonna make some!
