When Eragon Shadeslayer and his dragon Saphira beat Galbatorix, they thought that they could settle down for a nice quiet life bring up Dragon Riders and teaching them how to make peace in the land. Sure, there would be bumps along the way, but nothing major. Right?
Wrong.
In just a few weeks, a rumor passes of a dark evil awakening. The rumor says that somebody has reanimated a Shade that been destroyed by the Shadeslayer himself, the most powerful of all of them, Durza. Some people even say that this is Galbatorix’s own revenge…
But only time will tell.
Synopsis:
Exactly five years after the end of the last book in the series, Inheritance, perfectly healthy people start dying all across Alagaesia. Rumors start that dark forces have been awakened, particularly rumors about the re-awakening of Shades, which are human beings being possessed by evil spirits that have unnatural, evil powers. As you hear these rumors, you feel a gut feeling inside your chest that something is calling you to do something about it, investigate. So you do, and you are plunged into a world of adventure. You meet people that accompany you on your journey, you learn about the Ancient Language, certain cultures’ religious beliefs, fighting skills, and other things on your adventure. But, at the end, will you be prepared to take on the evil that resides deep below the earth, where almost no one has gone before?
Some minor notes:
1) How magic works in the world of Alagaesia, where the Inheritance Cycle is set, is that there is no “magic spells”. Instead, there is the Ancient Language. Basically, if you know a word in the ancient language, and you speak it, you control that object/element. So, if you say brisingr, which means fire in the ancient language, whatever you’re focusing on at the moment will burst into flame, and you can control that fire however you like.
2) Only elves and humans can work magic. Almost all elves have at least a tiny bit of magic skills, but almost no humans have any magic. If you are a dwarf or an Orc, then you cannot use magic.
3) All four of the races can be Dragon Riders, although please don’t put your character as a Rider at the beginning of the story, since I don’t want to have any OP characters.
4)It doesn’t matter if you haven’t read the books yet, it’s very loosely based on the storyline, and you’ll get more accustomed to the world as the story goes on. Ask me any questions you might have.
5) Keep in mind that the speed of this is “hardcore”, so I will try to keep the story going. We don’t necessarily have to get to one scene per day, but I at least want to go faster that normal. If people can’t do that, then it’s fine. This is all fun and games anyway! :D
6) I will put group announcements in the “discussions” tab, so make sure that you’re following what we’re saying in there. I will also be answering questions there and in the commentary.
7) Have fun! If you don’t think you’ll have fun, then don’t join. I don’t want to rob you of time that you could be spending playing other games that might seem more fun to you.
