Long ago, there came a comet across the world of Shaard. It spelled the doom of empires, and the eternal chaos of entire civilizations, the coming of plagues. It had been driven from Shaard with the effort of a group of heroes, leaving the mortal races of Shaard to rebuild over the course of a thousand years. Those who survived the first coming of The Dark Star left Shaard with a prophecy for those who had rebuilt:
“At the height of epochs, when the sun falls with violet light, when the moon rises red, the Dark Star will return.”
A thousand years of strife, prosperity, and progress have lead most to dismiss the prophecy as driven by fear, but things look uncertain. With each passing moonrise, people look to the sky, and watch as the sunlight gets a little darker. The Dark Star is due to return, and this time it’s uncertain as to whether the world can survive.
So begins a story of adventure and survival. It has been far too long since the last emergence of the Dark Star, so to stop it, one must survive the blight it brings with it.
