The Empire grew too large and collapsed from within. As turmoil reigned in the capitol, the far-flung military units at the outskirts of the known had to decide to return and fight a slow slide into ruin or desert and try to make a new life. One small unit chose to go further into the unknown…but their ship crashed on the shore of a mysterious island.
Beneath a sky of unfamiliar stars, a motley group of imperial deserters, their families, and freed slaves must find a way to survive. They’ve escaped a horrible fate in the collapsing empire but they may have found a deadlier fate on an island that seems determined to kill them!
Throughout this game I will being using italics for out-of-character text. Feel free to do the same; put an asterick at the beginning and end of each paragraph you want italicized.
I want to establish one hard and fast rule for this game - Every card gets an image! If you make a new subplot, strength, or weakness find an image for it. When you use your wild cards - even if it’s a one-off ability - use an evocative image. It easy to do and it really adds to the feel of the game.
Characters can be imperial soldiers, their support personnel, family members they acquired on their long posting at the frontier, freed slaves, or just about anyone else that could have had a reason to escape to a new land.
Some questions to consider in character creation or to answer during play:
1) Why did you desert?
2) Was there some motivation beyond the collapse of the Empire?
3) Were you originally from a different land outside the Empire?
4) Was your (former) commander tyrannical?
5) Did you have a vision or hear a prophecy that lead you to the island?
6) How do you plan to make a home here?
