A story of a story…
Acclaimed novelist Orvell Tucker blows up in the news, being found dead within his home located off the shores of Clearwater, Florida. The details keep coming in about how the body was found completely scorched beyond recognition. Many in the community are broken and devastated over the loss. Many people from around the world mourn over the death as well, many having found their likings to his words.
Despite this, though, the police investigating the crime are having one hell of a time figuring out exactly what happened in Tucker’s home when the author died. Coroner’s claim he’d been completely engulfed in fire, and thus most of the structure must have been burning as well. This was not the case however as most of the house was found unscathed. Only a few scorch marks that resemble footprints, matching the size of the victim, and a few pages half burnt.
With this development in the investigator’s minds, they’ve almost overlooked that the final manuscript had arrived at a publishing office the same day Tucker’s body was discovered. The firm has announced they’ll be looking over the final work of Orvell Tucker and will do what they can to release his next novel to the public. Tucker’s family, namely his brother Hubert, wish for this work to be publicized in memory of their departed kin.
Yet something seems off. The editor who’s reading the novel is finding the story to be very different from the romance stories Tucker used to write. Instead, this one talks of horror. One which might be more real than anyone realized.
The night of the death, some find they’ve begun to see the shadows in their homes edging closer and closer to them. Maybe a trick of the eye. Many ignore the sight playing the whole bit off as their mind playing tricks on them. Yet, when they sleep, they’re plagued by a terrible nightmare. A storm out on the ocean, tossing and turning a ship amongst its waves. About to topple over until–
They’ve woken in a whole new place. What looks like a cabin aboard an ocean cruise liner. Wind howling outside as a storm begins to pick up. Worst yet, there’s something in the halls, whispering to those onboard, giving off a sense of dread.
Hi there! If you like the idea of H.P. Lovecraft and spooky adventures on an abandoned cruise ship, then this’ll be an adventure for you!
