The Masked Lord has risen. A stone adornment, carved from the stone of the Mountain, the source of all magic, grants him power beyond compare. Armed with an army of strange phantasmal beings pulled from an adjacent dimension, he has started a grand conquest of the nation, seizing control of the Capital city of one of the richest provinces in hours. The entire continent is in a panic, as any attempt to defeat him leads to scorched earth and dead bodies littered across it. Rumors say that the Masked Lord was the Orphaned Prince, whose family, the tyrannical warlords that had once controlled half of the continent and would have taken over even more, had they not been killed in a final attack, the only survivor being the teenage prince. Legends say that he had escaped, joined up with a group of foolhardy adventuring nomads, who were on their way to the Mountain, to see the sights and mine the stone. Some say that they were successful, but on the day of their arrival the prince had murdered them, his bloodlust rising to the surface of his mind. On the eve of the Masked Lord’s rise, the sky had grown red, as the very clouds seemed to pull towards the mountain, as if drawn by a strong force. Now, the Masked Lord marches to another province, this time, the home of the Mage’s Academy, most likely to steal the magical secrets stored in the books within, and burn the impossibly tall tower to the ground. You, are fellows of skill. Those who rise beyond common expectations for their professions, and have developed a grand namesake for themselves. Much like in any other epic, you had received a scroll, telling you of how your services were needed, and of how an expedition was being planned, to go to the mountain to retrieve some of the stone from there, and to carve their own grand relic from it, much like the Masked Lord did. But unlike other calls to arms, this one came with a catch. Whoever would use the relic to kill the Masked Lord, would have to die with them, and be struck down by their allies. Are you that person?
