Can you feel it? Sure you can. It never left. You’ve just shoved it deep down in your pocket of dreams to call upon later.
It waits next to you like a child holding your hand, waiting for nurturing, but the hand never leaves. It wants attention, no - it demands it. This childlike voice brews to the surface when waves of nostalgia take over, when finding your old box of toys in the attic, or finding you and your friends’ hidden signatures protesting against the parental regime on the side of the house.
It collects itself in lucky coins, in starlight promises, and six-step handshakes. It’s there in fist bumps, and when you’re online playing games with your pals. It’s the most important thing a person can have, and the worst thing they can forget.
In this story we tell the tale of the Lost Boys who were forced to grow up from horrible circumstances. The Lost Boys themselves never had great memories of their parents, but learned to live a life of love without them because of friendship.
In this tale we find ourselves playing the grown up Lost Boys who have forgotten damn near everything about their adventures. To them, they grew up in orphanages or homeless, but there is a void that now rides passenger where wonder and childlike feelings should be. You’re not dead inside, you’re just complacent. Taking it easy on the train towards nowhere.
You may have a wife, a child, and those do bring you joy. But the void seems to fill around the young ones. Though there’s always a meeting calling you, or a bill, or a fight, or a family issue… So like the bond to Neverland, you have no choice but to forget for a moment and move forward.
But there are days when you look at the second star on the right, take a deep breath, and wait for morning.
