This whole mad venture started off simple. Sometimes it seems like they always do. The crier hollered and bellowed in the town green, a simple ad:
“WANTED! BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN TO JOIN SIR WALTER MONTROSE AND HIS GLORIOUS EXPEDITION!”
Now, here you are. A few farthings richer, sure. But you and the rest of the crew are deep in the wilderness. A good dozen died from dysentery on the march through a vast swamp, and the run-in with the native frog-men claimed another eight.
Somewhere near here is the tomb of an ancient and powerful wizard who once ruled this land, a very long time ago. Sir Walter is excited, and the peons are getting nervous.
Now is the time to earn your pay, it seems.
