It is the Year of Our Lord 1596. The Unseelie Court is trying to make trouble in the mortal world, using tricks, glamour and manipulation to bring down the government in England and create instability in the world, for they thrive on chaos. Queen Elizabeth and her spymaster, Francis Walsingham, have been warned of the threat by the Seelie Court and are putting together a task force to try and stop the Unseelie.
Characters might be anything from courtiers to actors to playwrights because—in this world and at this time—words and names do have power and who would know how to use them better? Magic can be performed through the spoken word…using just the right ones in the right order and with the right inflection and intonation. This is called logomancy.
So people like actors and playwrights would be able to do magic, albeit it would probably involve a bit of trial and error. Witchcraft (likely nature-based) would also be a possibility as is sorcery and alchemy.
Real or fictional characters are welcome. Want to play Kit Marlowe? Go right ahead! And don’t forget, girls pretending to be boys is a staple of Shakespearean comedies and romances so don’t feel restricted by traditional gender roles.
Your characters do not have to use magic, either. You could be a diplomat, a spy or a changeling. The possibilities are endless.
Note: I am not looking to start this right away, but have sent invites to those interested. Please feel free to take your time while creating your characters. PM me if you have any questions.
