April 15th, 1912. The sinking of the Titanic
The loss of the “unsinkable” cruise liner will become one of the world’s most famous - and deadly - peacetime maritime disasters.
April 2012, the Gigantic sets sail.
Part museum, part cruise ship she is the ultimate vanity project by the great, great nephew of J. Bruce Isamy.
Named for the originally planned title of her ill-fated predecessor’s sister ship the Britannic, the Gigantic will make that journey from Southampton to New York and finally lay the ghost of the Titanic - at least that’s the claim made by the brochures. More cynical voices whisper that the voyage is likely to stir up more ghosts than it puts to rest, especially with artefacts from the original ship woven into the very fabric of the Gigantic.
Those in Peril on the Sea will follow the story of passengers aboard the Gigantic as they recreate the infamous voyage and perhaps learn that there are darker secrets at play than a simple tale of man vs nature. This is intended to be a combination of mystery and ghost story, a touch of gothic horror and the potential for discovering monsters in the depths - both human and ‘other’.
