Today you enlisted. You started the day in a small bare room with light gray walls, with one table, one chair, one pencil, and a stack of forms that seemed endless. Most of the forms, which you can’t remember much about, didn’t seem to cause you any moral concerns that you can remember. After all, they were paying you a crazy amount of money. You were then taken to a slightly larger room where a nerdy tech at a terminal allowed you to watch as your current identity and past history was completely erased from the world databases. You no longer exist. You have never existed, anywhere. But you’re OK with this as they clearly told you that this was a condition of employment somewhere along the extended hiring process.
Then they dropped the real bomb on your psyche, something you didn’t know a moment ago. You have signed on to help fight a Time War and the stakes were stunning.
Background:
Time travel is hard and expensive. It is done using much power and at large facilities. Typically your team is dropped somewhere in the past and given some interval, usually 3 to 15 days to carry out the mission and then you are automatically extracted at an specific time regardless where you are or what you are doing. {NOTE the time of the mission is the time I will give the team to finish the task in realtime}
During a mission you are completely cut off from mission command, you are completely on your own. Time travel to the future has not been possible to date. Some scientist think it is being prevented on purpose by groups from the future.
Time Guard Story Types
The Time Guard is Broken into Three Groups two of which are now on Storium. Any Player in one group may ask to cross post their character in the other groups if they are interested in the other story genre too. That means interplay between the games are expected, the basic rules for the universes are the same, and they should not conflict with other stories that have already been written.
- Time Guard - Pathfinders.
Basically these are time travelers that go on missions back in time to learn what really happened in history and to set up some of the activities of the other two Time Guard departments. The time travelers are historians, liberal arts majors that are interested in understanding Cultures, enjoy travel adventures, and history. This set of stories aims at being light hearted adventures sometime with a Dr Who type of flavor.
- Time Guard - Ice Shield.
This is the special operations branch of the Time Guard. This aims at stories dealing with the complexity of protecting History from agents that want to change what happened in history for their own purposes. Expect the stories to be complex and lots of private discussions between cast. But this is the place to be if you wish to explore the genre in-depth. These stories are limited to small scale tactical operations, not sweeping strategic events. The tactics will be complex. How would you fight a time war????
(TG - Ice Shield has a background story embebbed in Time Guard - Pathfinders. Chapter 4.)
- Time Guard - Rescue.
TBD. Yet to be created but you can find an outline of this group in Time Guard - Pathfinders, Chapter 4, Scene 1. This should focus on large scale historical events where the action is the rescue of historical artifacts or people, that might impact the future of humanity. It is also a place where the Big Picture stories can intermix. Contact me if you are interested in exploring this type of storyline.
