The year is 2150. The Earth, the cradle of civilization for sixty-six million years lies before humanity – ravaged, irradiated and dying. Decades of unilateral greed, destruction and the unbridled utilisation of the Earth’s finite resources has driven the population of Earth past even the most negative predictions touted in the early twentieth century. Widespread famine, antibiotic-resistant plagues ravaging through the poverty-stricken masses and unchecked inequality between workers and capitalists has pushed the populations of Earth to breaking point. Coninentalistic factions have carved up the globe; Fighting over ever-decreasing resource stockpiles which has left the near-barren Earth on the brink of collapse. Mother Earth is now mere decades away from an unimaginable cataclysm which will allow the hollowed planet to rid itself of the plague called humanity.
Despite their various political differences, and ongoing tensions, the world’s many great powers – The United Americas, The European Federation, The Pan-Asian Conglomerate and the African Empire have agreed to collaborate on one final mission to survey the vast unknown beyond Sol. This uneasy union, otherwise known as the Terran Survival Force (TSF) was created under, supposed, neutral leadership. Whilst Luna and Mars have various colonies from all factions since the first great colonial missions of the 2050s neither could support Earth’s continuing downfall into tragedy. TSF Command knew that they needed a much greater source of new materials and even greater areas for the massive overpopulation on Earth.
Despite the lofty ambitions of the TSF, there are those on Earth who believe that humanity cannot be saved. Those who believe that humanity is a curse for the Earth and that allowing such a curse to expand into the galactic plane is too big a risk to jeopardise everything we know. The Earthen Protectorate watch the TSF with ill-disguised malice and murderous intent.
The TSF has now turned to the best and brightest the Earthen factions have to offer to lead the first of three exploratory ships out into the void. The TSF Fatum, literally meaning destiny in Latin, was the first exploratory ship to be built at the Conatis Shipyards and is now counting down the days to launch…
