A wizard’s apprentice has arrived in your little hamlet - Digger’s Outpost.
You assumed she was there looking for younger folks - the dreamers and budding adventurers. They usually were. But she was too late. A wizard came by three weeks ago and swept up the last of the young and eager, including your own offspring. The only people left were the older folks and the ones who were far too young to be out traipsing without adult supervision.
But her news was not at all what you unexpected. She feared that her master was leading them into a quest more treacherous than he assumed, and they would walk into grave danger… if they haven’t already. And once they triggered the sequence of events, danger would pour forth and soon arrive at their hamlet.
She asked if there was anyone there willing to help her chase them down, perhaps mount a rescue if necessary. Only tired, aging faces stared back in silent despair. She turned to go but suddenly, a voice hailed out.
“Miss, wait.”
This is a story of older folk who would rather tend to their herd or toil their lands instead of hobbling into the unknown chasing adventure. But hobble they must because they may be the only thing that can save their children or younger villagers from heading into certain death.
