There is a castle made of stone on a hill…
What the people of the village call, Kōri no shiro.
That very hill is forbidden, it is forbidden because when people go up, they never come down.
It has been said that there is a ruler of that hill, but she is colder than winter itself and will kill you at any given chance. Her name is Fuyuko, her mother chose this name because it means Winter’s child. People have never seen her unless they saw her sitting on the top of the hill watching the snow fall, she has never been one to show her face to people. People also rumor that she has a brother, or they think they saw him walking around the castle on some days where the snow is falling harder than usual.
Nevertheless, a few select people have been selected to go to that castle, the reason was not stated but they were invited nevertheless, and they must go or the people in the village will drag you there. (Due to superstition)
You’re the first group of people in years to be invited to Kōri no shiro, or the Castle Made of Ice.
There is a village where winter never ends, this village is called Yuki no mura. There aren’t a lot of people residing in this village because they never have a break from the cold. The village has everything necessary for survival, although many of the children born there will either die from the cold or they will leave their parents when they have come of age, but you also have some children who stay in the village they call home.
As people walk through the small village in their thick clothing you can see people smiling as they walk or having pleasant conversations, which most of the surrounding villages think is unusual for people who are suffering in the harsh weather. If you have been in this village for a while, you must have heard, Kōri no ōjo no monogatari, The Tale of The Ice Princess.
There was a war here about 100 years ago, this was an ordinary war greedy men were fighting over who should have this land, although it was an ordinary war, it wasn’t an ordinary battle ground. This village was rumored to have magic. During the war Taiyō no senshi were fighting with Tsuki no senshi. While both camps were getting ready to sleep the blew hard and left many of the men freezing cold, some held on to life and some just succumbed to the cold, while the men in Tsuki no senshi came out of their tents to stand guard they thought they saw a woman, with immense beauty walking amidst their camp they went to tell the chief, when the chief walked outside the lady was gone.
The next night the wind blew harder, and more men died from the weather. This time Taiyō no senshi saw a woman with immense beauty walking around their campsite, when they went to tell their chief by the time, he made it out of his tent she was gone. Both sides perplexed by what happened that night decided to look for the woman they saw. When a warrior from Tsuki no senshi found the woman late at night by herself at the bottom of a tree, that night all you heard was his screaming that faded as the sun went up in the sky.
We never know what happened after that but the war stopped immediately.
The people in the village are already superstitious, so do your best to stay alive.
