It will go anywhere and it can do anything.” In short, to quote Alice Walker, that’s what happened to me since I took up the hobby of writing. It’s a liberating, refreshing. I’m a big fan of crime stories and detective dramas but I must say I’m an omnivore when it comes to reading…and consequently writing. Maybe the only exception might be science fiction? I don’t know, for some reason, I haven’t indulged in it in years. My current reading obsessions (I will update it whenever they change) are Franck Thilliez’s super dark thrillers and Madeleine Miller’s ancient mythology rewritings. I LOVE rewritings (Wide Sargasso Sea? A masterpiece if you ask me) and I am crawling into a Greek and Roman mythology rabbit hole at the moment so Miller seemed fitting, even if I plan l expand. Of course and awfully predictably, I’m a sucker for queer lit and it’s fair to mention another of my current book obsession is The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid. So, folks, if you have anything dark & murderous up your sleeve or something queer, but also literally anything good (aside sci-fi even if I might consider it: will you be the one who makes me go back to it?
